Bulgaria's Varna Celebrates City Day in PM's Presence

Bulgaria's Black Sea capital Varna, whose main cathedral bears the name of the Dormition, is celebrating its official holiday Wednesday, which is the Day of Dormition of the Holy Mother of God.

On this occasion, the city will be visited by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, Regional Minister, Lilyana Pavlova, and Transport Minister, Ivaylo Moskovski.

Borisov will be cutting a number of ribbons for several facilities. He will start with the expansion of the "Hristo Botev" daycare center which will provide new openings for Varna's children. The new gymnasium of the First Foreign Language High School is next to be followed by a repaired section of the main thoroughfare "Gen. Kolev" boulevard.

The Day of Varna will begin with a solemn mass served by Varna Bishop Kiril. After the ceremonial hoisting of the flag of the city, officials will great 12 delegations of mayors, governors and diplomats from Europe and Asia.

The Day will conclude at midnight with 15-minute fireworks.

There will be a number of traffic restrictions over the events, the traffic police inform.
