A citizen of Kosovo with an international arrest warrant has been detained in Bulgaria, the Interior Ministry reported Sunday.

The man, driving a Volkswagen Passat with Romanian license plates, has been stopped for a routine check by policemen from the Traffic Crimes Unit at the Sofia Regional Police Directorate on Hemus highway around noon Saturday.

Upon document check, the police found out the driver had a Serbia-requested international search warrant with a Red INTERPOL Notice. He had presented a Kosovo passport and a card for permanent residency in Romania.

The additional checks revealed that the detainee is the Kosovo citizen H.L., 50, using a fake ID of a citizen of Serbia. He is been held in the jail of the town of Botevgrad near Sofia, pending the decision of the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Cassations regarding his extradition to Serbia.
