The Bulgarian Union of Private Hotel Owners is threatening legal action against Sunny Beach AD and the Nessebar Municipality due to the poor condition of the infrastructure and the lack of peace and order in the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach.

The Sunny Beach AD  company owns the infrastructure in the Black Sea resort and some administrative buildings.

The decision was taken at an extraordinary meeting of the branch organization on Thursday, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

Hotel owners are demanding an urgent meeting on August 17 with representatives of the state and the municipality who are in charge of the management of the Black Sea resort.

According to Sava Choroleev, representative of the managing board of the branch organization, Bulgarian laws are simply not observed in Sunny Beach and the resort has been left on autopilot.

Choroleev believes that the key problems in the resort involve the nonobservance of the rules of public order and safety, the poor street lighting and sewer networks, and the inefficient control at the resort's entry points.

He says that the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism and the Nessebar Municipality are turning a deaf ear to the problems of Sunny Beach.

Private hotel owners insist that they are paying taxes but they are getting no street maintenance, street lighting, and traffic management in return.

Hotel owners argue that Sunny Beach should become a separate resort with a separate management, while the Nessebar Municipality should be in charge of the maintenance of the infrastructure.
