Bulgaria's authorities have taken measures to limit the traffic of trucks as a result of the record high temperatures.

Thus, on Tuesday, Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency has banned the traffic of trucks with a weight exceeding 7.5 metric tons in order to prevent heat-related accidents, the Interior Ministry press center announced.

The ban is effective until 9 pm local time; any trucks that the ban refers to will be pulled over by Bulgaria's Traffic Police where their drivers will be instructed to wait until the night.

Since the weekend Bulgaria has seen a major heat wave with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius in the north of the country.
