Bulgaria's Stambolova Injured after Nightmare Start in London

Bulgaria's Vanya Stambolova has suffered three abrasions as she stumbled over a hurdle in the women's 400m hurdles heats.

Doctors have said that the injuries are serous, but further tests are due.

The 28-year-old suffered every athlete's worst nightmare on Sunday when she crashed to the ground in an ungainly heap.

Stambolova has won gold and silver European Championships medals and finished sixth at last year's World Championships in Daegu.
