Code Orange alert for dangerous heat is declared for 21 Bulgarian regions Tuesday.

The forecast is issued by the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.

Code orange means intense weather situations with potential damage, injuries and casualties.

People are advised to not venture outside, especially around noon and during the afternoon; to strictly follow the directions of the authorities and be prepared for emergency measures. Plenty of water is to be drunk.

Only the regions of Sofia City, Sofia, Pernik, Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, and Smolyan are under Code Yellow.

Code Yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.

Temperatures are to reach anywhere between 36C and 41C, (37C in the capital Sofia), with uncomfortable heat and muggy air.

The weather on the Black Sea Coast will be sunny. Temperatures will be between 33C and 36C degrees and 27C-29C for the sea water.

The BAS Institute further warns of increased threat of wildfires over the lasting heat wave and drought.

The weather people promise some relief starting Wednesday with the mercury going down to the digits normal for this time of the year.
