Bulgarian Boxer Alexandrov Starts London Olympics with Win

Bulgarian boxer Alexander Alexandrov has easily dealt with Mozambique's Juliano Fernando Gento Maquina in the light flyweight contest.

Alexandrov took the fight to his opponent straight from the off, flashing a couple of sharp right hands that wobbled Maquina, SportsMole reported.

Any shots that Maquina got away were caught by the Bulgarian's solid defence before being returned with interest.

It looked like Alexandrov would bring about a premature end to proceedings, however the Mozambican managed to hang on in there.

Alexandrov took his foot off the gas slightly in the third but still won by a considerable 15-point margin.

Thus, the Bulgarian boxer advanced to the 1/16 finals in the 49 kg category.
