Albanians Caught with 2 kg of Heroin at Bulgarian-Macedonian Border

Customs officers at the Gyeshevo border crossing have arrested two Albanians trying to smuggle nearly 2 kg of heroin across the Bulgarian-Macedonian border.

On the evening of July 31, the customs inspectors at the Gyueshevo border crossing point stopped a Renault Clio with an Albanian registration plate for a detailed inspection.

The check revealed two packages wrapped in silver foil containing a white powdery substance.

The chemical tests indicated that it was heroin.

After a follow-up inspection with a sniffer dog, the number of packages grew to 16, containing a total of 1.8 kg of heroin.

A customs pre-trial investigation was opened into the case.
