In 2011, a total of 369 newspapers with an annual circulation of 373 million were published in Bulgaria, according to data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

In 2011, per capita newspaper circulation increased by 6 to 51 newspapers on an annual basis.

In 2011, a total of 62 dailies in with an annual circulation of nearly 232 million were published in the country.

The number of weeklies published in Bulgaria increased by 6.1% on the year to a total of 157.

The number of humor newspapers remained unchanged from 2010, totaling 6 newspapers with an annual circulation of 182 000.

The annual circulation of humor newspapers fell by 3.2% (6000) on the year.

Sofia-published newspapers were 182 (12 less than in 2010), accounting for 88.7% of the total newspaper circulation in the country.

In 2011, newspapers published in Bulgarian were 95.9% of all, alongside a total of 15 foreign-language newspapers (1 in German, 1 in English, 1 in Turkish, 1 in Romanian, 2 in Russian and 9 in 2 and more languages).

In 2011, the number of newspapers increased by 10 and the circulation went up by 9.5% on an annual basis.

In 2011, a total of 559 magazines and 109 bulletins were published, with magazines dropping by 4 (0.7%), bulletins by 23 (17.4%).

In the period October 2010 – December 2011, a total of 4524 books with a circulation of 2.7 million were published, alongside 554 brochures with a circulation of 496 000.
