The Bulgarian national men volleyball team started its 2012 London Olympics performance with an expected victory against the hosts from Great Britain.

The team, led by Coach Nayden Naydenov, won by 3:0 (25:18, 25:20, 26:24) in a Sunday morning opening match.

The Bulgarians with Captain Vladimir Nikolov overcame convincingly the adversary in the first two games and in the third tried to save some strength and gave the Brits the initiative and a break.

Cheered and encouraged by the majority of a total of 14 000 spectators, the hosts were close to having the third game, but the Bulgarians managed at the end to reverse the score from 21:23 to 24:23.

The Bulgarian volleyball team won the maximum of 3 points and now leads Group A.

The second game against Poland is scheduled for July 31 at 1:30 pm Bulgarian time. The other teams in Group A are Italy, Argentina and Australia.
