One of Bulgaria's biggest hopes for medals at the 2012 London Olympics, boxer Detelin Dalakliev, advanced to the second round of the bantamweight tournament (56 kg).

Despite the slightly slow start, Dalakliev, 29, scored a comfortable victory over Ayabonga Sonjica of South Africa. The Milan 2009 World Champion won with 15:6 and is now on his way to face Ibrahim Bala from Australia.

"It was a tough match, my adversary was taller and with a reverse guard. Sonjica is an uncomfortable and not very standard boxer to fight. I am happy about the result, but this was in no way an easy win," the Bulgarian athlete said after the match.

The second round is taking place on August 1 at 10:45 pm Bulgarian time.

Three months ago, Dalakliev won against Bala in a tournament in the Serbian capital Belgrade and is optimistic about the upcoming face-off.
