Three different locations along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast saw record temperatures on Saturday, July 28, the Bulgarian National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology announced.

Temperatures in Bulgaria on Saturday ranged from 31 to 38 degrees Celsius but the Black Sea coast, which is usually slightly cooler than the rest of the country was also part of the record heat wave.

Thus, the city of Varna on the Black Sea coast saw a record temperature of 36 degrees Celsius; the Cape of Emine had 34 degrees Celsius, and Ahtopol in the very southeast of Bulgaria saw 31.4 degrees.

The Danube city of Ruse was the warmest spot in Bulgaria on Saturday with a temperature of almost 38 degrees Celsius but that was not a record as it had seen higher temperatures on July 28 in past years.

17 out of Bulgaria's 27 districts have declared a Code 'Yellow' situation over the heat wave.
