The London Aquatic Centre designed specially specially for the 2012 Olympic Games is one of the most impressive facilities built for the event.

The LAC, designed by internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid, had a price tag of GBP 269 M.

The construction of the LAC began in July 2008 and was completed in July 2011 and was the first 2012 Olympics venue to be designed and the last to be finished.

The facility is situated at the South East corner of the Olympic Park in London

The LAC features a 50m competition pool, a 25m competition diving pool, a 50m warm-up pool and a 'dry' warm-up area for divers.

The Water Polo competition is being hosted next door in the temporary Water Polo Arena

The LAC has a capacity of 17500.

After the London 2012 Olympics, some 15 000 temporary seats will be taken away, leaving the LAC with a 2500 capacity.

The LAC will be transformed into a facility for the local community, clubs and schools.

All pools at the LAC have moveable booms and floors to create different depths and pool sizes, allowing swimmers of all abilities and experience to use them.

The swimming events in the 2012 London Olympics will be held in the period July 28 – August 4.

The open water competition will be held on August 9-10 in the Serpentine in London's Hyde Park.

There will be 34 different events (17 male, 17 female), two of them open-water swims of 10-kilometres.

A total of 166 nations will be keeping their fingers crossed for 950 competitors (900 in pool events, 50 in Marathon Swimming).

Bulgaria's swimming team at the 2012 London Olympics features Ekaterina Avramova (100m, 200m backstroke), Nina Rangelova (100m, 200m, 400m freestyle), Ventsislav Aydarski (1500m freestyle) and Petar Stoychev (10km marathon).
