A festival of Bulgarian yogurt, folk traditions, and crafts is held in the northeastern city of Razgrad from Wednesday until Friday.
The fair, organized for the 11th time in a row, is a gathering of companies manufacturing and distributing the traditional and emblematic Bulgarian product. There will be also a contest for homemade yogurt and meals made with yogurt as ingredient. Nearly 100 craftsmen from all over the country are taking part in the crafts exhibit.
The folk performances and parades will include groups from Italy, Serbia, Turkey, Russia, Germany, Moldova, Indonesia, Taiwan and Mexico, along with three Bulgarian folk groups. The concerts and the parades, including one with hand-painted traditional Bulgarian wagons, will be held every evening of the fest.
Two schools are also opening doors – one for children named "First Steps in the Trade" and one called "Dance with Me," where those wishing can learn traditional Bulgarian folk dances such as horo.
The program includes shows staged by amateur folk groups, a Festival Quinn pageant, a contest for professional chefs for making yogurt meals and desserts, their tasting, a contest for homemade yogurt and meals, and folk crafts demonstrations.
The Japanese cook, known under her artistic pseudonym Kaorun, is a special quest. She will prepare sushi with Bulgarian yogurt and other meals. Two TV crews from Japan are going to film the festivities.
