Bulgaria to Test Commercial Attach?s' Performance via Fake E-mails

Bulgaria's Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism (MIET) will assess the performance of the country's commercial attach?s by sending them e-mails on behalf of fictitious companies to test their reactions.

Speaking Monday after a meeting with all Bulgarian commercial and economic attach?s, Economy and Energy Minister Delyan Dobrev specified that Bulgaria had a total of 54 such representatives, the best-performing of them being the ones in China and Romania.

Dobrev announced that the first results of the 'fake e-mails' campaign would be reported at the end of 2012.

"Cases have been reported when Bulgarian companies wrote to our commercial and economic attach?s and the representatives either failed to respond altogether or responded with a huge delay," Dobrev stated.

Bulgaria's Minister of Energy, Economy and Tourism said that the country's commercial and economic attach?s had been informed about the upcoming campaign and that they would be assessed on the basis of their responses to the e-mails.

He emphasized that the campaign would provide much-needed feedback about the performance of Bulgaria's commercial and economic representatives abroad.

Dobrev explained that the only assessments of the attach?s' activity were coming from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Bulgarian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Promotion Agency, which had reported both cases of excellent and poor job performance.

He noted that the planned campaign would support and improve the work of Bulgaria's commercial and economic attach?s.
