Spiegel: Bulgaria Is Nightmare for Israel Intelligence

The explosion in Bulgaria was the deadliest attack on Israelis abroad since 2004.

Bulgaria is a nightmare for Israel's intelligence and security services, the German weekly Spiegel writes.

The media, cited by the Bulgarian news agency BGNES, stresses that for months now, terrorists have attempted to attack Israeli citizens travelling outside their country and have finally succeeded in Bulgaria.

A bus carrying Israeli tourists exploded on the airport's parking lot Wednesday afternoon, killing seven. Five are Israeli citizens.

The other two casualties are a Bulgarian, who was the driver of the bus, which was supposed to carry the group of Israeli tourists to the Sunny Beach resort and the suicide bomber, who brought the bomb on the bus.

The article explains that the main lead in the attack is that Hezbollah, helped by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, is responsible for the terrorist attack, as Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and all other top officials say.

Spiegel describes the suicide bomber as man with long hair, classes, a baseball hat, dressed in checkered Bermuda shorts and light blue T-shirt. It informs that when the 44 tourists boarded the bus, the man followed them and seconds later a blast split the bus in two. The bomb was concealed in the attacker's backpack.

The man had fake US ID papers, which is often an evidence for the involvement of Teheran and/or Hezbollah, Spiegel writes.
