A 15-year-old boy in Bulgaria's western city of Pernik has died from a heart attack caused by the earthquake that shook the city and the capital Sofia Saturday.

Mario, a high school student in the 9th grade, has been home alone, when the aftershock of the May 22 earthquake struck. When he felt the tremor, he started running towards the door and passed way before opening it.

His mother and uncle attempted to reach the teen on the phone several times. Alarmed by the fact that no one was picking up they went to the house and found Marion on the floor. The relatives immediately called an ambulance, but the emergency doctor only established the death and its cause.

Mario has been buried in Pernik on Monday.
