The ongoing heat wave in Bulgaria broke the temperature records for the date in four Bulgarian locations Sunday.

A temperature of 36 degrees Celsius was measured at Black Sea's Cape Emine, 1.6 degrees hotter than the previous record for that location.

Temperature records were set on two Bulgarian mountain peaks – Musala (16.6 degrees) and Rozhen (28).

Unsurprisingly, the Southern town of Sandanski was the hottest town in the country of Monday, with the mercury reaching to 38.8 degrees, a Sandanski record for July 16.

Unlike Sunday, no Bulgarian regions were under a Code Red or a Code Orange for extremely dangerous weather. However, many regions in Central, Northern, Eastern and Southwestern Bulgaria were still under the milder Code Yellow.
