Russian Floods Stir Alarm of Black Sea Pollution in Bulgaria

An alert has been received on July 9 in the Regional Lab in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna warning about possible pollution of the sea waters after the devastating flood in Krasnodar, Russia.

The alert was sent by the Director of the Basin Directorate for Water Management and posted on the site of the Environmental Executive Agency.

On Wednesday, a team from the lab has done an examination of the sea waters near the coast in the area of the village of Krapets, but had not noticed a visible film of oil products on the surface.

A water sample is currently being tested for harmful elements and the results are pending.
