Bulgarian police authorities are seeking an unknown man who delivered BGN 25 500 to the mother of armored car driver Georgi Enev.
Enev, who allegedly pulled off an audacious theft of BGN 1.5 M from the car he was driving back in June, surrendered to the police on July 5.
The suspect's mother, Donka Eneva, was visited by an unknown man who gave her a total of BGN 25 000, prosecutors revealed on Monday.
Eneva then contacted police officers and handed the money to them. It cannot be verified whether the money belongs to the sum stolen by her son, since the stolen bills were not tracable.
The police are now looking to find the courier using a composite sketch, local media inform.
Police in Plovdiv were alerted about an abandoned cash transporter on June 22, and upon arriving they also found that the vehicle was empty.
The equivalent of BGN 1.5 M in various currencies was missing and the cash transporter's driver, 33-year-old Georgi Enev, immediately became the suspect. The man was nowhere to be found and his Opel Kadett discovered abandoned some 15 km away from the city of Plovdiv
