Center-right ruling party GERB has proposed amendments to Bulgaria's Election Code envisaging a permanent Central Electoral Commission (CEC) which keeps a permanent electoral registers.

The changes were presented Tuesday by Iskra Fidosova, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Group of GERB and Chair of the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

"The website of the CEC should provide a link to the register of the Civil Registration and Administrative Services (GRAO) so that Bulgarian citizens can check whether they are on the electoral registers and where their polling station is by typing their uniform civil number (EGN)," Fidosova stated.

She noted that GERB had also proposed that the CEC had to provide all necessary technical and financial assistance for the creation of websites of regional and municipal electoral commissions, so that they can publish all their decisions and registers.

Fidosova also noted that the amendments provided for an obligation for the CEC to air its sessions online in real-time.
