Greece's New Govt Clinches Confidence Vote

Greece's new three-party coalition government won a confidence vote early on Monday.

All MPs of the three parties supporting the government - conservative party New Democracy, left-wing PASOK and moderate leftist Democratic Left – voted in favor, gathering a total of 179 votes.

Voting against were the 121 lawmakers of far-left SYRIZA, the nationalist right Independent Greeks, the extreme right Golden Dawn and the Communist Party.

On Sunday, it was made clear that the government headed by PM Antonis Samaras plans to prioritize the privatization fo 28 companies, including state utility firms, a number of airports and sea ports, as well as Greece's state railways.

On Monday, Eurozone Finance Ministers are due to meet in Brussels to discuss how to carry out measures agreed at a summit in June to tackle the debt crisis.
