Code Yellow in Bulgaria over Lasting Blasting Heat

Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather has been declared Sunday for almost the entire territory of Bulgaria due to an intensifying heat wave.

Only the regions of Gabrovo in the north and Smolyan in the south of the country do not have the warning code imposed by the national weather service at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 38 degrees Centigrate in parts of the country.

More clouds and a milder weather is expected at Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, where nevertheless temperatures will be well above 30 C.

Saturday five temperature records were broken in Bulgaria, with the heat in a number of places reaching 36 degrees.

The heat wave is expected to linger during the coming week.
