High school students in grade 11 during the 2012 – 2013 school year will now study the role and the place in history of current Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

The Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily cites experts from the Education Ministry saying that in his capacity of country leader, Borisov is a historical personality and this is why he, along with Bulgaria's EU Commissioner, Kristalina Georgieva, and President, Rosen Plevneliev, have been included in high school history books.

Bulgarian freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will have new history and geography books this fall. They have been approved by Education Minister, Sergey Ignatov. The old text books were published in the now-distant 2001.

Maria Boseva, editor of the new books, explains they have easier language and more pictures and illustrations.

According to her, the history of Bulgaria is divided in 46 general topics, and also includes a special lesson on the rule of Communist dictator, Todor Zhivkov.

"The lessons include new information, but no new interpretations of historical facts," says Boseva.
