The Bulgarian man, who made headlines due to his car hood boasting the portrait of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, has been invited to join Borisov's ruling GERB party.

Spiro Yankulov, from the Danube city of Ruse, is a hardcore fan of the PM. He commissioned artist Iliyan Iliev to paint the portrait on his old Opel Vectra.

Yankulov says that young people adore his automobile, have taken many pictures and even asked to use it for their proms.

After hearing the news, the Member of the Parliament from the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, Plamen Nunev, has personally invited the Ruse residents – driver and artist to become party members.

Both say they are flattered and astonished at the same time by the interest the idea has generated.

Yankulov is firm he will join GERB ranks. Iliev, who has also been ridiculed because on the portrait Borisov has 4 fingers on each hand, says he will consider the proposal.

Speaking for bTV Wednesday, the artist explained the blunder with visual distortion, and demonstrated with his own hands how it has happened. He stated that he made the portrait from a photograph, selected by the car owner among 10 pictures he was presented.

Yankulov, who listens to chalga (pop folk) and rap in the famous vehicle, firmly denied claims that people have been making fun of the portrait and the four fingers, adding he has had no problems with the police over the art.
