Code Yellow Declared for NE Bulgaria for Thunder, Hail

Eight Bulgarian regions are under code yellow for severe weather Tuesday, the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) reminds.

The weather people warn of new thunderstorms, downpours and hail, especially for Tuesday afternoon and for northeastern Bulgaria.

Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.

Code yellow is declared for the regions of Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Silistra, Dobrich, Shumen, and Smolyan.

A cold front has arrived in Bulgaria from the west moving across the country.

The mercury will climb to 25-30 degrees Celsius, 25 in the capital Sofia.

On the Black Sea coast, in the afternoon clouds will bring short, but heavy rain showers, accompanied by thunder. The maximum temperatures there will reach 27-30 degrees and 25-27 for the sea water.
