Bulgarian, US Air Forces Start Thracian Spring 2012 Drills

The Thracian Spring 2012 joint drills of the air forces of Bulgaria and the USA have started in Southern Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Defense Ministry announced.
Thracian Spring 2012, an annual training, is taking place June 14-29 in Bulgaria's Krumovo Air Base.
The drills kicked off with tactical small altitude flights of Hercules C-130 planes of the US Air Force in Europe, and paratrooper training with Spartan C-27J transport planes of the Bulgarian Air Force.
On Bulgaria's part, the participants in the parachute jumps are troops from the Special Operation Forces of the Bulgarian Army, and the Bulgarian Navy, with a total of 350 daylight and 100 night jumps executed in six days, the Defense Ministry informed.
Bulgarian paratroopers are training for the first time with MC-6 parachute system, which is the newest in the US military.
A missile complex division of the Bulgarian Air Force is also scheduled to join the Thracian spring training.
