UEFA has condemned clashes between rival supporters at the Euro 2012 match between Poland and Russia that took place on Tuesday.

"UEFA condemns the isolated incidents that occurred yesterday when some groups of known troublemakers pelted the police with missiles and attacked fans irrespective of the team they were supporting," the European football's governing body has said in a statement.

Some 157 people were arrested after violence flared at a march of Russian fans in the Polish capital Warsaw ahead of Tuesday's Euro 2012 clash that ended in a 1:1 draw.

Ten police officers were treated for injuries, as well as 10 fans.

Russia's Foreign Ministry has said it hopes that Polish authorities will make sure that no more accidents take place involving Russian football fans in the country, Interfax informs.

The Foreign Ministry has stated that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of Russian fans. However, provocations on behalf of separate groups of Polish hooligans could not be prevented.
