Liverpool boss Brendon Rogers wants to snap up Manchester United's Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, a report says.
Rogers believes the forward could be the perfect foil for misfiring duo Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, caughtoffside.com says.
The site has pointed out that Rogers is friendly with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, stating the former Swansea manager is set to make tentative enquiries about Berbatov's availability this week.
If Berbatov decides to join Liverpool, he would become the first player to be transferred between the two archrivals since 1964. No player has been directly transfered between them since Phil Chisnall made the switch from United to Liverpool in 1964.
PSG, Galatasaray and Malaga are among the clubs said to be interested in singing the prolific Bulgarian forward.
Berbatov has no intention in playing for a Premier League club next season, according to his agent, Emil Danchev.
