Tunisia Ex-President Sentenced to 20 Years behind Bars

Tunisia's ousted President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on various charges including incitement to murder.

On Wednesday, Ben Ali, who is exiled in Saudi Arabia, was found guilty of "inciting disorder, murder and looting" by a Tunisian military court, according to the TAP news agency.

The former Tunisian President was sentenced over the deaths of four youths in the town of Ouardaninein in mid-January 2011. The youngsters were shot dead as they tried to prevent the flight of Ben Ali's nephew Kais, a day after the dictator fled the country on January 14.

Several members of the security forces were sentenced over the same incident.

Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fled to Saudi Arabia following a surge of massive popular protests and. He was tried in absentia.
