Nearly 100 000 Bulgarians are holding jobs in an EU country different than their homeland.

The data belongs to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

However, unofficial statistics list a much higher number of Bulgarian migrant workers in the EU – about half million a year, though some have seasonal jobs.

According to Eurostat, nearly 30% of Bulgarian migrants are in Spain, 15% - in Great Britain, and 13% - in Germany.

Germany is the EU country with most migrant workers – about 7 million; 6 million live in Spain, another 5 million in Great Britain, and 4 million are in Italy and France each.

Eurostat data further shows that the number of Romanian migrant workers in the EU has increased the most since 2001 – 7 times - from 300 000 then to over 2.2 million in 2011.

The largest group of people from outside the EU, living in EU countries, is the one of Turkish citizens – between 4 and 5 million in 2011.

The stats also register a significant increase in the number of people who work part time – about 20% of all workers in the EU in 2011.

The Netherlands have the largest share of part-time workers – nearly 48%, followed by Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Austria with over 25% each.
