Emergency repair works will be carried out in a total of 11 schools and 7 kindergartens in Bulgaria's capital Sofia in the aftermath of the 5.8-6 magnitude earthquake that affected the city on May 22.

Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has additional inspections of all schools and kindergartens in the Sofia municipality.

Her move follows on the heels of Saturday's accident in which part of the wall of a school building collapsed in Sofia's Lyulin residential district.

The school in question has now been closed and its students will finish the school year in another school building.

Fandakova has told the Bulgarian National Radio that experts from the Sofia based University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy are expected to be ready with their detailed report on the condition of the city's buildings within 3 months.
