Bulgaria's New Ambassador to Hungary Presents Credentials

The new Bulgarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary, Biserka Benisheva, has presented her credentials to Hungarian President Janos Ader.

Ambassador Benisheva expressed confidence in the further development of friendly relations in the context of the European partnership between Bulgaria and Hungary, the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said.

After the ceremony, the Bulgarian Ambassador laid a wreath at Heroes' Square in Budapest.

Benisheva will also represent Bulgaria in the Danube Commission, an international organization based in Budapest, which is in charge of the navigation of the Danube under the respective international convention signed in Belgrade in 1948.

Since June 2011, Bulgaria is holding the rotating chairmanship of the Danube Commission with a three-year term.

Ambassador Benisheva was born in 1953 in Pleven. She graduated with a degree in foreign trade from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, and has been a diplomat since 1994.

Benisheva has served as Bulgaria's Ambassador to Ireland. She speaks English, Russian, German, and French.
