The Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office has not been notified about cases of clairvoyants and psychics stirring panic among the public with apocalyptic earthquake forecasts.

The statement was made Thursday by Chief Prosecutor, Boris Velchev, in the aftermath of a number of reports that predictions of self-proclaimed mediums have been terrifying locals in the western city of Pernik, which was hit by a 5.8 magnitude earthquake on May 22, and by a large number of aftershocks.

Velchev spoke for the media before the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, saying he was not aware of and could not find any legal grounds to probe the clairvoyants.

"You are catching me completely unprepared on the topic, I must admit. If a clairvoyant disseminates a forecast publically, stirring panic among people, the issue here is who is at fault – the clairvoyant or the media which prints and reports this prediction," said he.
