Bulgarian Parliamentary Chair Tsetska Tsacheva believes that employers who fail to pay their employees' wages in time should not face criminal trials.

She stated that such measure would be "extreme."

"Law is a relatively conservative system. Such cases need to be repeated a lot in order for these actions to be criminalized," Tsacheva explained, as cited by local media.

The Bulgarian Parliamentary Chair reckons that delayed salary payments should be treated as administrative violations that should be sanctioned.

On Saturday, Tsacheva visited the southern city of Kardzhali, in which workers from the troubled Lead and Zinc Complex (LZC; OTZK) have been protesting over delayed salaries.
