The British Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Jonathan Allan hosted a Sustainable Urban Development seminar on May 17.

The seminar took place at British residence in Sofia and the guest speaker arch. Stuart Richardson - from the leading British architecture company Stephen George International - presented the successful UK experience in master planning and urban development.

Richardson has many years' experience of master planning, ranging from eco towns to small, complex and diverse sites for one-off clients. In Sofia, he talked about combining strong design with commercial realism to produce coherent and deliverable strategies and Stephen George International experience in planning new towns, urban expansion schemes, town, and city centers. They explained that their objective is to maximize the efficient, effective and economic use of land and buildings, while avoiding the unnecessary use of scarce resources.

During the Sustainable Urban Planning seminar in Sofia guests were able to see the unique travelling model of the London 2012 Olympics complex which was exhibited at the residence of the UK Ambassador to Bulgaria.

The London 2012 Olympics is not only going to put on the biggest sporting event in the world; it is going to hold the world's first truly sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games, leaving a legacy far beyond the departure of the Olympic flame, the organizers say.
