Turkey and Qatar have firmly committed themselves to constructing the projected Ruse-Svilengrad motorway, confirmed Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development Lilyana Pavlova Thursday.

Minister Pavlova explained that the new motorway will not be part of Bulgaria's regular road network, for which drivers have to buy vignettes, but will be operating under a tolling system.

The Ruse-Svilengrad road is set to connect the eastern part of Bulgaria's northern border to Romania to the south-eastern border with Turkey.

"In the days after the meeting of the three PMs, a many tripartite technical discussions were held, at which government experts discussed the project in detail," added Pavlova.

End of last week, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov welcomed Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani in Bulgaria to discuss future joint projects.
