Far-Right Leader Furious Ahead of Bulgarian-Turkish PM Talks

Volen Siderov, leader of Bulgaria's far-right Ataka (Attack) party, has once again voiced his discontent with his country's diplomatic relations with Turkey.

Siderov has come up with a declaration demanding that Prime Minister Bouko Borisov explain why he is holding a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan will meet with Boyko Borisov and Qatari PM Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna on Friday. Energy, transport and investment projects are expected to be high on the meeting's agenda.

In his declaration, the controversial nationalist leader has stated that Turkey has established a tributary relationship with Bulgaria.

Siderov has also reminded that Borisov greeted Erdogan's honor guard in Turkish during his visit to the neighboring country in March, a gesture the nationalist considers "shameful."

"On behalf of Ataka's voters, we call upon the Prime Minister to visit the Parliament as soon as possible and provide an account of his meeting with Erdogan," Siderov declared. He claimed that the news about Erdogan's visit has been kept in secret until the last minute.
