A total of 8 cooperation agreements were signed between Bulgaria and Qatar during the first day of Qatari PM Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani's visit to the Balkan country.

The two countries will cooperate in the fields of properties, mining, health care, health tourism, culture, investments and in several agriculture sectors.

Al-Thani announced that Qatar has deposited a total of USD 200 M in the Bulgarian National Bank as a sign of its serious investment intentions.

His Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov reminded that the crisis in Europe is not over yet and there is a serious competition in attracting investments.

"That is why we have focused our attention towards Qatar, as it is one of the wealthiest countries," Borisov said, as cited by BGNES. He pointed out that the Arab world is an excellent market for his country's meat producers.

On the second day of his two-day visit to Bulgaria, al-Thani will attend a meeting with Borisov and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna.
