Evgenia Haritonova, member of the State Commission for Energy Regulation (DKEVR), will be proposed for appointment as Deputy Energy Minister, according to Delyan Dobrev, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism.

In a Monday interview for the morning broadcast of private TV channel bTV, Dobrev presented Haritonova as an energy expert with extensive experience at the national power utility NEK and the Electricity System Operator (ESO).

Dobrev argued that Haritonova was well acquainted with the developments in the Bulgarian energy sector and with "the challenges of liberalization."

Haritonova is to replace Valentin Nikolov, who was appointed CEO of the Kozloduy NPP on May 7 after less than two months in office.

Haritonova confirmed Monday that she had discussed her nomination with Dobrev and added that she would accept the offer.

"I will accept the job offer because I am a patriot and an energy expert and I believe that this sector must not be left in a vacuum," she stated.

Haritonova's main responsibility as a DKEVR member was to define the terms for connecting producers and consumers to the energy grid.
