Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather has been declared Sunday for half of Bulgaria's regions due to incoming heavy spring storms.

Sunday the weather is expected to be predominantly cloudy, with spontaneous storms with rain and thunder in many parts of the country.

Temperatures in the morning are expected to be between 13 and 18 degrees Centigrade, with a low of 9 C in Sofia, where the highs will not go beyond 22 C.

In the afternoon, a wind from the north west is expected to bring clouds, rain and a cooler air. Hail can occur in some regions.

A heavy storm activity is expected for parts of western, central, northern and southern Bulgaria, with the most heavy rainfall expected in central Bulgaria and the region of the Rhodope Mountains in the south.

Code yellow means that the weather is not expected to be unusual, but still calls for precaution, recalls the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
