Bulgaria to Develop 35 Projects under Jaspers Action Plan 2012

Bulgaria's Jaspers Action Plan 2012, which has already been approved by the government, includes 35 projects.

Of the 35 projects, eight are in the Environment sector, ten in Transport, two in Integrated Urban Transport, one in Economic Development and 14 are horizontal measures.

The schemes are aimed at fast-tracking the process of EU funds absorption for the current programming period and facilitating the process of planning for the next one (2014-2020).

Among the projects are integrated water projects in the districts of Pleven and Pazardzhik, ensuring master plan quality in the Central, Eastern and Western regions, the reconstruction and expansion of two sections of the Sofia Ring Road, the construction of Lot 3 of the Struma Motorway, transit roads rehabilitation in Gabrovo, Montana and Vratsa, the expansion of the Sofia underground, the preparation of a project for the technological parks initiative, etc.

JASPERS (Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions) assists the 12 Central and Eastern EU Member States and Croatia in the preparation of major projects to be submitted for grant financing under the Structural and Cohesion Funds.

The instrument is aimed at increasing the quantity and quality of projects to be sent for approval to the the services of the Commission.

The assistance is provided free of charge with a view to accelerating the absorption of the available funds.

JASPERS experts provide assistance for any stage of the project cycle from the early stages of project conception through to the final application for EU funding and in some cases also through to project implementation.
