Eleonora Nikolova has been appointed as the interim head of Bulgaria's Center for Prevention of Organized Crime and Corruption (BORKOR), it has been announced.

On Monday, BORKOR's former head Rumen Milanov was fired from his position. Earlier the same day, Milanov was also sacked as adviser of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Borisov told reporters that BORKOR's work does not satisfy him at the moment.

Eleonora Nikolova used to be Milanov's Deputy. She is also a former Mayor of the Northern Bulgarian city of Ruse (2002-2005) and an MP with right-wing Union of Democratic Forces (2005-2009).

BORKOR has a primarily analytical function, but costs the Bulgarian state budget about BGN 2 M per year.
