Will Bulgaria’s PM Finally Grab a Footballer of the Year Title?

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov is known for his passion for sports and is an amateur football player in his spare time.

Needless to say, there is nothing wrong with that. Not only can his hobby help him get rid of the extra few pounds, but it sets a good and healthy example for Bulgarians.

However, there are several aspects to the Prime Minister's football activities that need a closer look:

Playing football with Interpol-sought Russian mafia thug Konstantin Tsiganov was definitely not a good idea.

Promising various favors to his football pals while being a Prime Minister is also unacceptable.

And having hundreds of thousands in taxpayer money poured into his lower-tier team's stadium is obscene, having in mind the wretched condition of schools, hospitals, etc.

In 2011, Borisov almost won the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year, as many people decided to cast a vote for him ironically. Will his lucrative amateur stadium bring him the award in 2012 and will he grasp the sarcasm this time?
