Libya Has Evidence of Seif al-Islam Crimes, ICC Says

Libya possesses strong evidence linking Seif al-Islam, the son of late strongman Muammar Gaddafi,  to recruiting mercenaries and executing people, according to the International Criminal Court.

The court's chief prosecutor Moreno-Ocampo has clarified that the Libyan government has until the end of April to present a case to the court to back its demand to try him.

The Hague-based court is in a dispute with Libya over who should try Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, who was captured last year in Libya after a civil war that toppled the Gaddafi regime.

The court demanded this month that Libya hand him over immediately to face accusations of crimes against humanity, but Libya appealed the decision, CNN reminds.

Seif al-Islam, captured in November last year, is currently being held in a secret prison by fighters in the town of Zintan 160 km west of Tripoli, according to The Tripoli Times.
