Bulgaria's far-right Ataka (Attack) party may withdraw its support for the upcoming no-confidence vote against ruling centrist-right GERB, it has been reported.

The party has called a press conference on the no-confidence vote issue, prompting media to suggest there would be a change in its stance.

Two Ataka lawmakers' refused to sign the no-confidence motion that entered the country's Parliament on April 6. The move triggered reports that the party's parliamentary group is on the verge of collapse, as it has just 10 MPs left, which is the bare minimum.

The no-confidence motion was submitted by Ataka and left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party over what the two parties perceive as GERB's failed energy policy.

At the end of March, the GERB government decided to scrap the Belene Nuclear Power Plant, a project backed by the two aforementioned parties.

Whether or not Ataka decides to support it, the no-confidence vote is doomed to fail, as it is not expected to be backed by more than 48 MPs. There are a total of 240 lawmakers in the Bulgarian Parliament.

The no-confidence vote will be discussed on April 23, when the MPs' controversial 10-day Easter break will be finally over.
