Confindustria Bulgaria, the Association of Italian Business in Bulgaria, is staging a forum to explore the infrastructure investment opportunities in the country.

The forum entitled "Building the Change. Bulgaria: Infrastructures and Projects for a Growing Country" is taking place on April 19th, in the Royal Hall 3 of the Sheraton Hotel in Sofia, Confindustria Bulgaria announced.

The event is to focus on the strategic sectors in which Bulgaria is about to attract Italian investments in the near future such as road, railroad and airport infrastructure; the development of the Bulgarian Danube regions; the modernization of the territory through the development of an efficient waste and water supply system.

The participants will include Bulgarian experts on transports and infrastructure together with representatives of major Italian enterprises in Bulgaria discussing infrastructural projects that will cross Bulgaria's territory, Confindustria Bulgaria said.

The forum will feature representatives of Bulgarian and Italian authorities and companies, including Italian Ambassador in Bulgaria Stefano Benazzo, Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Nikolina Nikolova, the CEO and Chairman of MB of Unicredit Bulbank and Deputy Chairman of CEIBG Levon Hampartzoumian, the Member of the European Parliament and of the Commission on Transport and Tourism Antonio Cancian.

"We want this event to be a driving force for the Italian enterprises that are looking for opportunities in the Balkan region," Confindustria Bulgaria's Director Federico Cassi stressed.

"Bulgaria is a strong economic reality that can turn out to be a land of plenty for all those companies that look for widening their investments in the region. The total turnover of the Italian companies here is EUR 2 B, equal to almost 5% of Bulgaria's GDP, and Italy, thanks to the investments of Devnya Cement and Technip Italy, is going to be ranked first as a source of FDI in Bulgaria," he added.

It is expected that more than 150 among Italian enterprises, Bulgarian partners and specialized authorities will take part in the event organized by Confindustria Bulgaria.
