Parts of a human skull have been discovered in Bulgarian capital Sofia's Lyulin district.

A man walking his dog stumbled upon the terrifying sight early on Wednesday, local media say, citing the country's Interior Ministry.

The parts were found in an abandoned building. It is still unclear whether the skull belonged to a man or a woman.

It was initially reported that more body parts were found at the scene.

Police are investigating the case. It is yet to be clarified whether a murder has taken place.

On Monday, a dismembered male body was discovered in a plastic bag in front of a public toilet in Sofia's Knyazhevo district. The body was badly decomposed.
