One person have been charged with the murder of a 45-year-old Bulgarian man in a mass fight that took place in the Bulgarian village of Pravishte last Friday.

Two more individuals have been charged with battery. A total of 12 people were initially arrested, with eight of them released due to insufficient evidence.

The mass fighting which claimed one life in Bulgaria late Friday was between local ethnic Bulgarian villagers and Roma workers from another settlement.

45-year-old Iliya Popov from the city of Plovdiv, who was staying in a nearby house for the Easter holidays, heard screams. He tried to appease the two warring groups, only to be killed with an axe and a knife by several Roma workers.

Some of the Pravishte villagers have said they have been threatened by the workers, who come from the nearby village of Rozino.

At any rate, it was the locals who attacked the residence of the Roma workers, thus directly provoking the bloody brawl itself.
