North Korea has reportedly revealed a new missile during celebrations marking the 100th anniversary since the birth of late North Korea founder Kim Il-sung.

According to international media, Japanese and South Korean military analysts have suggested that the missile displayed during Sunday's military parade in Pyongyang appeared to be a new addition to the country's arsenal.

However, the analysts have pointed out that further examination would be necessary to tell whether it was an intercontinental ballistic missile,

In his first public speech, young North Korean leader Kim Jong-un praised his father Kim Jong-il's "military first" policy, declaring that "superiority in military technology is no longer monopolized by imperialists."

On Friday, North Korea launched what it said is a rocket carrying its first satellite, and what other countries believed could be a long-range missile.

However, the attempt was unsuccessful, as the projectile exploded in mid-flight, breaking apart and falling into the sea.
